Kara Olguin
Owner, Operator, Lead Designer,
Slow Flowers Advocate
Kara Olguin was born and raised under the breathtaking sunsets of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Early on, she was immersed in the culture and creativity of New Mexico, finding it’s heartbeat with flamenco dancing in Downtown Albuquerque, while nourishing her roots (and eating homegrown apricots) alongside her hardworking family in the gardens of the south valley.
When COVID-19 regulations closed Albuquerque in 2020, Kara abruptly paused her career in flamenco, returned to her humble agricultural beginnings, and opened a floral delivery business called Flowers from Kara. Her creations quickly evolved from daily neighborhood flower deliveries and restaurant subscriptions to providing fresh floral decor for weddings and special events. In 2023, and again in 2024, Kara Olguin was awarded for her outstanding work as Best Floral Designer by the Wedding Collective of New Mexico.
By creating immersive, large-scale installations with seasonal, locally-sourced blooms for galleries, public gatherings, and private events, Kara hopes give back to her community by making New Mexican organic floriculture more accessible to local residents and visitors, while providing joy, beauty, and food for the soul through flowers.

Kara’s passion for Slow Flowers
After experiencing firsthand the aggressive waste of imported flowers and studying their consequential global impact, Kara developed a passion to cultivate the Slow Flowers movement in New Mexico. In 2024, with the help of master growers, like Rowan & Wren Flowers, Sign of the Dragon Farm, and Burque Bee Farm, Kara was able to source more than 75% of fresh cut, locally grown flowers for her spring, summer, and fall event season, providing New Mexico with a unique “farm-to-vase” floral service. With her expanding network of flower farmers, local florists, and flower enthusiasts, Kara is intentionally carving a path to connect the floral consumer with the local grower.
Today, Kara prioritizes sustainable floristry by intentionally aligning her busiest months with the blooming seasons, purchasing as many local flowers as possible from New Mexico’s best regenerative farmers, importing only when necessary from ethical, eco-friendly flower farms, and consciously avoiding harmful products like Oasis floral foam and single-use plastic in her practice.
Flowers from Kara proudly sources fresh cut flowers from many incredible local farms including Rowan & Wren Flowers, Sign of the Dragon Farm, Burque Bee Farm, Yappy Dog Farm, 2 Willows Farm, Vida Verde Farm, Farm 47, Common Kin Farm, Lucky Dirt Farm, Andante Farm, Enchanted Gardens, The Harvest Trail, and more!
